WELCOME TO THIS WEEK'S FLOCKNOTE
The Season of Grace is Here - Lent!
Sisters and Brothers in Christ, this Sunday’s readings remind us that our words and actions reveal the true state of our hearts. The Book of Sirach uses images of a sieve, a kiln, and a tree to show that our speech and conduct expose our character. Likewise, Jesus teaches us that the blind cannot lead the blind and that a tree is known by its fruit.
As such, before correcting others, we must first examine ourselves. Hypocrisy blinds us, but humility opens our hearts to transformation. If we fill ourselves with God’s wisdom and love, our words will reflect His truth.
Today, let us ask God to purify our hearts so that our speech and actions bear good fruit, and let us lead others not by judgment, but by example, in drawing them closer to Christ.
Welcome too to the Season of Grace - The Lenten Season. As we get ready to enter this Sacred Season of Lent, God calls us to a time of reflection, repentance, and renewal. Lent is not just about giving up something; it is about drawing closer to Christ. Through prayer, fasting, and almsgiving, we open our hearts to God’s transforming grace.
This season invites us to examine our lives honestly:
“Where do we need healing? And, What distractions pull us away from God? Lent is a journey, a time to return to the Lord with sincerity and trust.”
Let us walk this path together, seeking God’s mercy and striving to grow in love. May this Lent be a season of deep spiritual renewal, preparing our hearts to celebrate the joy of Easter.
This year, join me as we read a chapter each day of the GOSPEL OF JOHN - ONLY 21 CHAPTERS.

Lent is the yearly celebration by the Church of its corporate conversion in Jesus Christ. During Lent, the Liturgy prepares the Catechumens to celebrate the Paschal Mystery by the various stages of Christian Initiation. It also prepares the faithful for Easter as they recall their baptism and enter into penance in preparation for the greatest Feast of the year.
Ash Wednesday and Good Friday are days of Fast & Abstinence. All Catholics ages 18-59 are to observe fasting and those 14 and older are to abstain from meat on those days.
Penitential Discipline: Penance is an important requirement of the Christian life. Fulfillment of this duty involves prayer, works of piety and charity, self denial and fulfilling our obligations more faithfully. Every Friday of the year, especially during Lent, is a penitential day.
