Jesus is Risen - Alleluia. Happy Easter!!
Easter Sunday is the heart of the Christian faith, a celebration of hope, renewal, and the triumph of life over death. It marks the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, a moment that changed history and continues to transform lives today. The empty tomb is not just a symbol of Jesus’ victory over death but also a promise to all believers that life, not death, has the final word.
Easter invites us into a deeper understanding of God’s love, a love so powerful that it overcame sin and death. Through the resurrection, we are given new life and the assurance that no matter how dark or hopeless things may seem, God’s light can break through. It is a day that reminds us that despair can be turned into joy, fear into courage, and sorrow into praise.
The resurrection also challenges us to live differently. As followers of the risen Christ, we are called to be people of the resurrection, living with faith, hope, and love in our daily lives. It means letting go of what holds us back and embracing the new life God offers. It means choosing forgiveness over resentment, peace over conflict, and compassion over indifference.
On Easter Sunday, we are reminded that the story is not over. Just as Jesus rose from the dead, we, too, are invited to rise, to be renewed in spirit and to live with purpose and joy. This day is not only about what happened two thousand years ago; it’s about what continues to happen in the hearts of those who believe. Christ is risen, and because of that, we have hope, we have purpose, and we have the promise of everlasting life.
Easter is not only a celebration of Jesus’ triumph but also a call to transformation. We are invited to believe, to witness, and to live as people of the resurrection, set free from fear, grounded in hope, and sent into the world to share the good news of God’s love and victory over death. Alleluia!

LENT 2025
Lent is the yearly celebration by the Church of its corporate conversion in Jesus Christ. During Lent, the Liturgy prepares the Catechumens to celebrate the Paschal Mystery by the various stages of Christian Initiation. It also prepares the faithful for Easter as they recall their baptism and enter into penance in preparation for the greatest Feast of the year.
Good Friday is a day of Fast & Abstinence. All Catholics ages 18-59 are to observe fasting and those 14 and older are to abstain from meat on those days.
Penitential Discipline: Penance is an important requirement of the Christian life. Fulfillment of this duty involves prayer, works of piety and charity, self denial and fulfilling our obligations more faithfully. Every Friday of the year, especially during Lent, is a penitential day.
Pontifical Collection for the Church in the Holy Land:
The Annual Good Friday Collection is taken at the request of the Holy See. The Church and our Christian brothers and sisters count on your help to retain a faith filled Christian presence in the Holy Land. Please give generously during your parish’s

NOTICE OF MASS CHANGE Sacred Heart Parish: Saturday 5pm mass will be on hold from Victoria Day weekend to Thanksgiving weekend (May 18-October 12).
St. Vincent de Paul, in DeWitts Corners, will be opened and will celebrate its first mass on Saturday, May 18th at 5pm. Saturday evening masses will continue at St. Vincent de Paul throughout the summer, and will conclude with the celebration of its final mass for this year on Saturday, October 12th, 2024.

Congratulations to our First Communion candidates on the completion of their catechism classes!
Confirmation Candidates:
Classes to be held on the 3rd Sunday of each month. The next class will be May 25th and will begin with the 11am mass, followed by class in the Narthex. (No April class due to Easter weekend conflict).
Reconciliation Dates:

St. Bridget’s Parish & CWL Easter
Project Our Easter Cheer baskets were stuffed to overflowing and were delivered to 5 different families. Our large Easter hamper contained a full Easter dinner with all the trimmings, including a turkey, ham, and many other grocery items. Thank you so much for all the wonderful donations and support for this initiative. We also included toys and teaching supplies, plus the children received fancy Easter treats. God asked us to outreach, and we certainly did…God Bless.

Spiritual Reflections with Archbishop Mulhall
Wednesdays; 7:00 pm
We will be reflecting on the Beatitudes of St. Matthew’s Gospel Chapter 5 as well as a series of Psalms of the Old Testament which we pray each day at Mass. As usual, we will also give time to the liturgical celebrations of Lent/Easter as we pass through the year.
It is good to remember that there is no starting point or end point as in a series of lectures or an academic course. Though we refer to previous reflections, we repeat our thoughts frequently so that anyone can join at any stage or miss weeks without losing any necessary points or developments. I like to think of our reflections as one long continuous series of reflections on a mystery from countless starting points. All these reflections I pray will be beneficial for us at whatever time of life or stage of our spiritual pilgrimage. The Lord, in whose presence we will pray together will always provide the grace, consolation, and strength that we need to make steady progress in our life of faith.
Ordination of Rev. Mr. Jude Thusiar
The Archdiocese of Kingston will celebrate the ordination to the Sacred Order of the
Priesthood for Rev. Mr. Jude Thusiar.
Jude grew up in Toronto, Ontario, and his family currently attend a parish in Mississauga. He studied at St. Augustine’s Seminary in Toronto and served with Father Richard Whalen at theparish of St. Michael the Archangel in Belleville for his pastoral year and was assigned to St.Paul the Apostle for his diaconate service.
I invite you to join me at St. Mary's Cathedral on Saturday, May 3rd, for the Ordination
Mass, which will begin at 10:30 a.m.
Vesting for priests and deacons will be in St. James= Chapel, and chasubles will be
provided for the priests. The procession will form at 10:25 a.m.
A reception will follow at Our Lady of Fatima Hall, 588 Division Street, Kingston.

7th Annual Rideau Canal Men’s Retreat by canoe and kayak
Tuesday, August 5- Thursday, August 7
Theme: Jubilee 2025 - Pilgrims of Hope
Planning is underway for the 7th Annual Rideau Canal Men's Retreat 2025 for Catholic men (18 years and older, and fathers with teenage sons) will be from August 5-7, 2025.
As in previous years, the goal is to gather Catholic men in an outdoor adventure/retreat where we can share our faith and enjoy a little male camaraderie. We hope that all who are interested in participating in this enjoyable event can work their schedules and join us for this time of prayer, daily Mass, opportunities for Confession, and lots of fun, fraternity, exercise, and adventure. If you know other men who may be interested and are not on our distribution list, please feel free to forward an invitation to them. We anticipate being fully registered, so this is your chance to let us know if you are interested. Thank you for your consideration.
