WELCOME TO THIS WEEK'S FLOCKNOTE
Solemnity of the Body and Blood of Christ (Corpus Christi)
The Solemnity of the Body and Blood of Christ, also known as Corpus Christi, is a profound celebration of the Real Presence of Jesus Christ in the Eucharist. It invites us to reflect not only on the sacred mystery of Christ’s sacrifice but also on the essential role the Eucharist plays in our lives as Christians.
At the heart of this solemnity is the mystery of presence. In the Eucharist, Jesus is not symbolically present but truly, substantially, and wholly present—Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity. This truth, rooted in Christ’s words at the Last Supper, “This is my Body… This is my Blood,” assures us that every time we partake of the Eucharist, we receive Jesus Himself. It is not merely a ritual; it is a sacred encounter with the living God.
Secondly, the solemnity highlights the mystery of sacrifice. The Eucharist makes present the one eternal sacrifice of Christ on the Cross. While the event of Calvary happened once in history, its saving power is made present every time the Mass is celebrated. We are drawn into the mystery of redemption, not as spectators, but as participants who offer our lives in union with Christ’s self-offering.
Another vital aspect is communion and unity. In receiving the Body and Blood of Christ, we are united not only with Jesus but with one another. St. Paul writes, “Because there is one bread, we who are many are one body, for we all partake of the one bread” (1 Cor 10:17). The Eucharist forms us into the Body of Christ, the Church. It calls us to live in unity, love, and service, breaking ourselves for others as Christ was broken for us.
Finally, this solemnity invites us to adoration and mission. Outside of the Mass, the Church encourages Eucharistic Adoration—spending time before the Blessed Sacrament in prayer, thanksgiving, and awe. This devotion deepens our intimacy with Christ and transforms our hearts to go forth in love and mission.
In celebrating Corpus Christi, we proclaim with joy: Christ is with us! He feeds us with His very self. Let us never take for granted the treasure of the Eucharist. It is our food for the journey, our strength in weakness, and our communion with Heaven on Earth.

For Schools & Teachers
Loving heart of Jesus, we pray for our schoolteachers and students. We ask that you encourage the hearts of educators. Remind them that you have called them to serve
you by leading and teaching these children. Help them to sense your steadfast love, to see your new mercies daily, to be satisfied with the good that you give them and be renewed by your redemptive love. May our children who are students grow in your mercy and love. Most Sacred Heart of Jesus: Have Mercy on us and the whole world. Amen.

Children’s Liturgy – Summer months
Please note that Children’s Liturgy will be paused during the 9am Sunday Mass for the months of July and August. The 11am Mass will continue to offer the program as usual. Families are encouraged to make use of the children’s corner (in the Narthex)!

85th Annual Pilgrimage to the Shrine of St. Ann in Cormac: Sunday, July 27th
The Triduum of preparation will be led by Bishop Michael Brehl, Bishop of the Diocese of Pembroke. The principal Pilgrimage Mass will be at 11:00 a.m. at the Shrine. The Sacrament of Confession is available throughout the day. A Mass of healing with the Anointing of St. Ann's oil will be celebrated at 2:00pm. (Please bring your own seating.) 7th Annual Rideau Canal Men’s Retreat by canoe and kayak

Theme: Jubilee 2025 - Pilgrims of Hope
Planning is underway for the 7th Annual Rideau Canal Men's Retreat 2025 for Catholic men (18 years and older, and fathers with teenage sons) will be from August 5-7, 2025.
As in previous years, the goal is to gather Catholic men in an outdoor adventure/retreat where we can share our faith and enjoy a little male camaraderie. We hope that all who are interested in participating in this enjoyable event can work their schedules and join us for this time of prayer, daily Mass, opportunities for Confession, and lots of fun, fraternity, exercise, and adventure. If you know other men who may be interested and are not on our distribution list, please feel free to forward an invitation to them. We anticipate being fully registered, so this is your chance to let us know if you are interested. Thank you for your consideration.

Spiritual Reflections with Archbishop Mulhall
Wednesdays; 7:00 pm
We will be reflecting on the Beatitudes of St. Matthew’s Gospel Chapter 5 as well as a series of Psalms of the Old Testament which we pray each day at Mass. As usual, we will also give time to the liturgical celebrations of Lent/Easter as we pass through the year.
It is good to remember that there is no starting point or end point as in a series of lectures or an academic course. Though we refer to previous reflections, we repeat our thoughts frequently so that anyone can join at any stage or miss weeks without losing any necessary points or developments. I like to think of our reflections as one long continuous series of reflections on a mystery from countless starting points. All these reflections I pray will be beneficial for us at whatever time of life or stage of our spiritual pilgrimage. The Lord, in whose presence we will pray together will always provide the grace, consolation, and strength that we need to make steady progress in our life of faith.
